Follow Me

Follow Me was preached at St Hugh of Allyn on January 25, 2026. The primary text was Matthew 4:12–23.

Two simple words define our identity as Christians: "Follow me." This sermon explores Jesus' call to his first disciples by the Sea of Galilee, when four fishermen left their nets to follow him—a dramatic moment that didn't happen in isolation, but after God had already been preparing them through earlier encounters with Christ. Whether like Andrew, invited to "come and see," like Peter, brought by someone else, or like Philip, sought out by Jesus himself, we all face moments where we hear Christ's call to follow him. This message challenges us to consider: How are we responding to that call? If our primary identity is as followers of Jesus, how does that shape our congregation, our witness, and our invitation to others who need to hear his call?
